MenuRight Terms of Service

Version 1.0 · Last updated 23 October 2026

These Terms are the agreement between you and us for your use of MenuRight. Please read them. Section 5 (Health and safety) matters most.

The short version

This summary does not replace the Terms below.

1. About these Terms

1.1 Who we are. MenuRight is provided by COMPLEXITY SOFTWARE Ltd. (in Bulgarian: „КОМПЛЕКСИТИ СОФТУЕР“ ЕООД), a company registered in Bulgaria under company number (UIC) 206802895, with its registered office at Hristo Smirnenski, bl. 49, entr. A, fl. 7, apt. 21, Slatina district, 1574 Sofia, Bulgaria, VAT number BG206802895 ("MenuRight", "we", "us"). You can reach us at support@menuright.app.

1.2 What these Terms cover. These Terms apply to the MenuRight app for iPhone, its Apple Watch app, its widgets and shortcuts, and the website menuright.app (together, the "Service").

1.3 How you accept them. You accept these Terms when you create an account or use the Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1.4 Privacy. Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we handle and why. It is information for you, not part of this contract.

2. Who can use MenuRight

2.1 You may use the Service only if you are 18 or older and able to enter into a binding contract. MenuRight is not intended for children or teenagers, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use it. The app asks for your date of birth, and its date wheel, in setup and in Profile, does not offer a date under 18.

2.2 The Service is for your own personal, non-commercial use.

2.3 You may not use the Service if the law that applies to you forbids it.

3. Your account

3.1 You need an account to use MenuRight's AI features. You create one at the end of setup by signing in with Apple or with Google. We do not give you a MenuRight password, so the security of your account depends on the security of your Apple or Google account and of your phone. Keep both safe.

3.2 An account is for one person. Do not share, sell or transfer it.

3.3 You can be signed in on one iPhone at a time. Signing in on another iPhone signs you out on the first one.

3.4 MenuRight bases its targets and suggestions on what you tell it about yourself. Give accurate information and keep it up to date.

3.5 Tell us at once if you believe someone else has used your account.

3.6 You can delete your account at any time in the app, under Profile → Delete Account. Section 11 explains what happens then.

4. The Service

4.1 What MenuRight does. MenuRight helps you understand what you eat and choose what to order. Among other things, it lets you:

4.2 How it works. MenuRight sends what you submit to our servers, where automated systems analyse it. These systems include AI models operated by other companies. Results are produced automatically. No person at MenuRight checks a result before you see it.

4.3 Shared restaurant menus. Menus in MenuRight are built from photos that people who use the app take of real menus. Section 6.4 explains what happens when you scan one.

4.4 Limits on use. To keep the Service available to everyone and its cost under control, we limit how many analyses an account can run in a period, and we may pause AI features for all accounts when a safety limit is reached. The app tells you when a limit applies. We may change these limits.

4.5 Availability. The Service needs an internet connection and depends on our servers and on other companies' services. We work to keep it running, but we do not promise that it will always be available, free of errors, or fast.

4.6 Changes to the Service. MenuRight is under active development. We may add, change or remove features, change the AI models we use, or change limits, for reasons such as improving the Service, security, cost, or the law. If a change takes away something important to how you use the Service, we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can. You are always free to stop using the Service and delete your account, at no cost.

4.7 Test versions. If you use a version of the app that we distribute for testing (for example through TestFlight), expect more errors, and expect features to change or disappear.

5. Health and safety

Please read this section carefully.

5.1 Estimates, not measurements. Every nutrition figure in MenuRight is an estimate. That includes calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins and minerals, portion weights, scores, rankings and daily totals. The figures come from AI models and from reference data about typical foods. A photo cannot show hidden ingredients, cooking oil, or an exact weight. A menu does not say how a kitchen really cooks a dish. An estimate can be wrong, sometimes by a wide margin, and MenuRight does not always know when it is wrong. Check anything that matters to you, and correct it in the app when you know better.

5.2 Not medical advice. MenuRight is a general wellness and information tool. It is not a medical device and it does not give medical, nutritional or dietetic advice. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor or prevent any disease or health condition. Using MenuRight does not create a relationship between you and a doctor, dietitian or any other professional.

Talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian before you change what you eat, and before you rely on MenuRight, if any of these apply to you:

Do not use MenuRight to calculate a dose of insulin or of any other medicine. If MenuRight ever seems to disagree with advice from your doctor or dietitian, follow their advice.

5.3 Allergens and foods you avoid. MenuRight can show a warning on a dish or an ingredient that appears to contain something you told us you are allergic to or avoid. These warnings are produced automatically from the words on a menu, from what the AI sees in a photo, and from typical recipes. They are not complete and they are not reliable enough to keep you safe:

Never use MenuRight to decide whether a food is safe for you to eat. If you have a food allergy, an intolerance or coeliac disease, always ask the restaurant's staff, or read the product's own label, before you eat. Follow the plan your doctor gave you.

5.4 Restaurant menus. Menu information in MenuRight is read by AI from photos that users took. It may be incomplete, out of date, misread or mistranslated. It may even belong to a different restaurant. Prices may be wrong. The nutrition shown for a dish is our estimate from the dish's name and description. Unless MenuRight says otherwise, it is not information the restaurant published or checked. The restaurant's own menu and staff are the authority on what a dish contains and what it costs.

5.5 Targets, forecasts and suggestions. Your calorie and nutrient targets, your weight forecast, and the dishes and meals MenuRight suggests are calculated from what you told us, using general formulas and general guidance for healthy adults. They are not a plan made for you by a professional, and they may not suit you. We do not promise that you will lose or gain weight, or reach any other result. We do not watch over your health.

5.6 Supplements: a record, not a dosing tool. You can log supplements. MenuRight records what you tell it you took. It does not tell you what to take.

The supplements MenuRight recognises are:

5.7 If tracking food harms you. Counting calories and tracking food is not right for everyone. If using MenuRight makes you anxious about food, or you notice yourself restricting what you eat in a way that worries you or the people close to you, stop using it and speak to a doctor.

5.8 Emergencies. MenuRight cannot help in an emergency. If you think you are having an allergic reaction or another medical emergency, call your local emergency number at once.

6. Your content

6.1 What it is. "Your content" is what you submit to the Service: photos of meals, labels, receipts and menus; text you type or dictate; the information in your profile; and any feedback you send us.

6.2 It stays yours. You keep any rights you have in your content.

6.3 What you allow us to do with it. So that we can run the Service, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process, adapt (for example, to resize a photo or read the text in it) and transmit your content, and to pass it to the companies that process it for us. We use this licence only to provide, secure, maintain and improve the Service. It ends when your content is deleted from our systems, except as section 6.4 says.

We do not use your photos or your text to train AI models, and the AI providers we use are not permitted to train their models on them.

Food and menu facts that do not identify you may be kept and reused to make the Service faster and better for everyone. An example is the name of a food together with its estimated nutrition.

6.4 Menus you scan are shared. When you scan a menu for a restaurant, we read from your photos the menu's information: the names of dishes and sections, descriptions, prices and similar details. We add our nutrition estimates. This information becomes part of the shared menu for that restaurant, which other people who use MenuRight can see and use.

6.5 What you promise. When you submit content, you promise that:

6.6 What we may do. To keep shared menus accurate and lawful, we may check content with automated tools and review it ourselves. We may correct, hide or remove menu information or other content, and we may limit or suspend an account that breaks these Terms (section 11). When we restrict your content or your account, we will tell you why and how you can object, unless the law stops us or we have no way to contact you.

6.7 Reporting a problem. Anyone can tell us about a menu that is wrong, out of date or attached to the wrong restaurant, or about content they believe is illegal or infringes their rights. This includes the restaurant itself. In the app, open the menu or the dish and choose Report menu or Report dish; or write to support@menuright.app with the restaurant's name and location and a description of the problem. We review every report and act on it within a reasonable time, and we tell you what we decided. If you disagree with the decision, reply to us and we will look at it again.

6.8 Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.

7. Rules of use

You agree not to:

8. Access codes and paid features

8.1 Access codes. We may require an access code (also called a referral code) before an account can use the Service. A code is issued by us, works for one account, and gives access until the end date we set for it. A code has no cash value and may not be sold. We may change a code's end date or switch a code off, for example when it was obtained or used in breach of these Terms. When your access ends, your account stays. You can still sign in to enter a new code, or delete your account.

8.2 Paid features. The Service, or some of its features, may be available only with a paid subscription. Before you buy one, the app shows you the price, the billing period, what it includes and how to cancel. A subscription is bought and managed through your Apple Account, and these Terms will describe it before it is offered.

8.3 What you pay. You will never owe us money without having expressly agreed to pay. Your mobile network may charge you for the data the Service uses.

9. Ownership

9.1 What is ours. We and our licensors own the Service: the software, the design, the text and graphics, the databases (including the shared menus as a collection), and the name and logo "MenuRight". These Terms give you no rights in them except the licence in section 9.2.

9.2 Your licence. For as long as these Terms apply to you, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install the app on Apple devices that you own or control, and to use the Service for your own non-commercial purposes, as these Terms and the App Store's usage rules allow.

9.3 Restaurants and brands. Restaurant names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners. We show them only to identify a restaurant. MenuRight is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any restaurant or brand shown in the Service, unless we say so expressly.

9.4 Reference data and open-source software. Part of our nutrition data comes from FoodData Central, published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service. The app also includes open-source software, which stays under its own licences.

10. Other companies' services

The Service works together with services that other companies provide and control. They include Apple (the App Store, Sign in with Apple, Apple Maps, Siri, push notifications) and Google (Sign in with Google). Your use of those services is subject to those companies' own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for services we do not control.

11. Ending and suspending

11.1 You. You can stop using the Service at any time, and you can delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete Account). If you are a consumer living in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have a legal right to withdraw from this agreement within 14 days of accepting it, without giving a reason. Deleting your account, or writing to us, is enough.

11.2 Us. We may suspend or end your access if:

Where it is reasonable, we will warn you first and give you the chance to put things right. You can object to a suspension by writing to support@menuright.app.

11.3 What happens then. When your account is deleted or these Terms end, your licence to use the Service ends. We delete your account and its data as the Privacy Policy describes. Meals, photos and other data stored only on your iPhone stay there until you delete them or remove the app, and anyone who uses MenuRight on that phone can see them. Menu information you contributed to shared menus stays (section 6.4). Sections 5, 6.4, 9, 12, 13, 14 and 17 continue to apply.

12. Our responsibility to you

12.1 What we promise. We will provide the Service with reasonable care and skill, and as described in these Terms.

12.2 Your legal rights. If you are a consumer, the law gives you rights that a contract cannot take away. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom they include a legal guarantee that a digital service matches what was agreed. Nothing in these Terms limits those rights.

12.3 What we do not promise. Because of what MenuRight is (section 5), we do not promise that an estimate, a warning, a menu or a suggestion is accurate, complete or current, that the Service suits a particular health need, or that you will reach a particular result. Apart from what we say in these Terms and what the law requires, we give no other warranty.

12.4 What we never limit. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:

12.5 What we are not liable for. Subject to section 12.4, we are not liable for:

12.6 Limit. Subject to section 12.4, and only as far as the law that applies to you allows, our total liability to you for all claims connected with the Service in any 12-month period is limited to the larger of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in that period and (b) EUR 100.

13. Your responsibility to us

If you break these Terms or the law when you use the Service, and we suffer loss as a foreseeable result, you are responsible to us for that loss, as far as the law allows. An example is a claim brought against us over content you submitted.

14. Law and disputes

14.1 Talk to us first. Most problems can be solved quickly by writing to support@menuright.app. Please give us the chance to help before you take any other step.

14.2 Governing law. The law of the Republic of Bulgaria governs these Terms. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the law of the country where you live.

14.3 Courts. The competent courts in Sofia, Bulgaria, may hear disputes about these Terms. If you are a consumer, you may instead bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live, and we will bring any claim against you only there.

14.4 Other ways to resolve a dispute. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution body instead of a court. In Bulgaria these are the conciliation commissions of the Commission for Consumer Protection (www.kzp.bg).

15. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms, for example when the Service changes, when we introduce paid plans, or when the law changes. We will publish the new version at menuright.app/terms with a new date. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it applies, unless the law or a security need requires us to act sooner. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account before the change applies. If you keep using the Service after that date, the new Terms apply to you. Where the law requires your express agreement, we will ask for it.

16. Apple App Store terms

You download the app from Apple's App Store, so the following applies:

17. General

17.1 These Terms are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.

17.2 If a court finds part of these Terms invalid, the rest still applies.

17.3 If we do not enforce a right at once, we can still enforce it later.

17.4 You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours to a company that takes over the Service, provided your rights under these Terms are not reduced. We will tell you if that happens.

17.5 Apart from Apple (section 16), nobody else has rights under these Terms.

17.6 These Terms are written in English. If we provide a translation and it differs from the English text, the English text applies, unless the law of your country says otherwise.
